Of course it works. And yes, some people don’t learn to use it correctly and some people do. Hypnosis is only a tool. When you say it doesn’t work, it’s like saying that a hammer doesn’t build a house. Well of course you would be correct in that statement, as it’s the carpenter that builds the house. The hammer will assist the carpenter, and make it easier to build that house than if he was forced to use a rock or some other thing to help him build it.

Not everyone is ready to quit as well. So if you think that you just have to pay some money to buy a quit smoking tool, or program, you will probably fail at that program if you weren’t motivated to quit as well.

In answer to your question, a resounding yes, Hypnosis is the tool that can help you to stop smoking quickly, easily, and permanently. And it’s the best tool out there.

In fact there was a huge study printed in a major respected Journal of psychology that proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that hypnosis was the best method to use to help you stop smoking. It wasn’t first though. It was second. Now you’re probably asking, What was first? Well I’ll tell you in a moment. The study was a monster study. In fact it was the monster of all monster studies comparing all the major methods of quitting smoking and showing their 3 month, 6 month, and 1 year effectiveness.

This study was published in the respected “Journal
of Applied Psychology” and you can look it up…it’s in Vol 77, No. 4, PP 554‐561. Yeah, it’s a 7 page study.

Ok, What was first? I can tell you that it’s not a way you would choose to stop smoking if you had the choice. The first most successful method of stopping smoking reported in that major study, was stopping after a major heart attack. Yeah, I didn’t think you wanted to give that method a try. And if you think that going to see a hypnotist is expensive, hah! check out the cost of your hospital stay and medical bills after your heart attack. I’m sorry, I just have to laugh at all those smokers that think going to see a hypnotist is too expensive for them, and yet they happily spend thousands of dollars a year destroying their health. Don’t get me wrong, I truly feel their pain. I was a smoker for quite a number of years. So I know how hard it can be to stop, until you discover the correct method.

Most of the people on these boards that put down hypnosis, never experienced it, or went to the cheapest choice in town, or the cheapest choice available to them. When it’s your life and health on the line, you take a more serious approach to solving your problem. My successful clients sometimes fly in from other parts of the world. They are serious about quitting. That doesn’t mean you have to fly anywhere. But you must be serious and take a serious approach to stopping smoking. And hypnosis done correctly is definitely a serious, and effective method of stopping smoking.

Perhaps for some people it might work if they actually want it to work but you cannot be hypnotised against your will. One smoker that I know of went to a hypnotist and the hypnotist was unable to hypnotise him and made the comment that he was a resistant subject and gave up on him.
References :
It's not too expensive, maybe $50 to $100 dollars per session, but I don't believe it works. My cousin had it to prevent labor pain, but guess what? It didn't work. Also, on the show MythBusters, they had 3 different people try different forms of hypnosis and it was proven to not have worked.
References :
I was able to quit for a year, I decided to start again because of my lifestyle... construction work and cold beer on Fridays... ebing single without kids also factored into my decision.... OK... What worked for me and this sounds strange, but you need to get a trusted female friend (or vice versa) to promise to kick you full stride in the crotch if you pick up or even look funny at a cigarette. After about the first month, I started to feel a lot better and stuck with my own will power to keep smoke free. I felt that I was ready to quit, but not entirely ready to, which is why I started again, I made a concious decision to.
References :
It didn't work for me. Nor did acupuncture, the patch, nicorette, or those shots you get in the nose which are "guaranteed to work" (yeah, right). I'm going to try the American Cancer Society support groups next.
References :
Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm still sucking on the filthy damned things, and the patches don't work for me either. They should come in industrial strength!
No personal experience with hypnotherapy (though I've considered doing it myself) but both my physiotherapist and his receptionist have done it. The physio left his cigarettes on the front step before his session and hasn't had a smoke in nearly five years. The receptionist had one session and was OK for 10 months, but "fell off the waggon" when she was having drinks at a Christmas party! The hypnotherapist they saw has a "warranty" deal and she got a second session as part of the initial charge and she too has been off the things since then, too. Then again, they weren't in the 40-60 per day range as I am but one day I'll get the balls to do a session or three and see what happens!

Give it a shot, what, other than emphysema and that hacking cough do you have to lose?! Good luck with it!
References :
My dad did and it totally worked for him. He was on over a pack a day. I remember as a kid he would have one in his mouth and then when it was nearly finished he would take another out of his pack and light it off the one he had in his mouth. Bad chainer. Anyway when he was hypnotised at first he would just light them for his girlfriend and then he just completely stopped after a week. He chain smoked for at least 10 year and now his given up for at least 15 years I think.
I know another lady who was hypnotised but it didn't work as well. Her hypnotist told her that if she smoked it would taste so disgusting. She said she got to the point she was so desperate to have one she was bawling her eyes out. Her brother told her to have one 'cos' it was all in her head. So anyway she did and it was fine. She kept smoking. She died of emphysema two years ago.
So whichever way you quit just QUIT!!! Goodluck
